Solution

Most resellers utilize some sort of system for digital delivery that make it impossible to download a purchased product after so many hours. The normal base for this is usually 48 hours. Of course this time limit can be shortened to only 24 hours.

The downside is that a lot of people can download your product in the span of 48 hours. Those are sales you are losing because someone has a bug up their butt about one thing or another. And we definitely want to do away with this quickly and quietly.

And the reason for that is logical. Think about this. . .

You Have A New Product That Is Selling Very Well & Becoming Extremely Popular

Customer A. Buys Your Product At $27

Customer A. Downloads Your Product Within The First 10 Minutes Of Purchasing

Customer A. Then Makes Your Product Download Link Available On THEIR Website

Now Your Product Has Been Downloaded By 30 Non-Customers

You Have Lost A Grand Total Of $810 Profits In A Little Under 48 Hours

The upside(what? there's an upside to all that profit loss???) is that after 48 hours, no more downloads are possible. Until along comes the next little buggy to do the exact same thing. And that could go on and on. Then you're losing hundreds of potential profits every single day!

So, what can we do about that?

Well, some pre-designed systems such as JVManager, ClickBank, Tradebit, Download Guard, and others not only allow you to put a limit on the length of time provided to your customer to download their product, but some of them also allow you to set a specific number of downloads that can be completed for that product. And that is what we want.

If you want to run everything on your own, then JVManager is best suited for you. Yes, it's costly, but I have personally used this myself and it's worth every single cent. Plain and simple, this system WORKS. Plus, it has a built in affiliate program, which is always a great thing to have at your fingertips ;-).

But, if this isn't the way you want to go, then I suggest you try ClickBank. It's quite cheaper, but still has a price tag of $50 for setting up a merchant account with them. What's that? Basically providing you with a space inside their system to sell your products from and taking care of all the "behind the scenes" stuff like delivery, payment processing, etc. They're a reliable company and take plenty of steps to protect your digital goods. And they also have a decent affiliate program. In one way, a bit better than that of JVManager, only because they handle all the affiliate payouts and product delivery for you.

However, ClickBank only leads your customers to your own hosted download page after their purchase. So one quick "copy-and-paste" inside the search bar and WHAMMO! Now your new customer has your download page URL. Free to share it with the entire online world.

If this is still too much money out of pocket, then I highly suggest you give Tradebit a good once over. They offer the same things that ClickBank does, but for much, much less. How much less? Well, would you believe it only costs around $1.99 a month? It's true! And, if you need more reselling "space", then you can always upgrade your account to a larger allotment. And no, it won't cost ridiculous amounts for the upgrade. We're talking only a few dollars price increase for more disk space. Tradbit also has a built in affiliate program you can decide whether you want to use or not. But a word of caution, they don't handle the affiliate commission payouts. You have to do that yourself. And you also have to keep tight track of who's selling what on your own from inside your administration area too.

Although, there is one strong benefit to Tradebit over the other two. They host all your digital product files for you on their space. Therefore, you don't have to host it on your own. Now, with that said, the Tradebit system is not without error though. Sometimes a customer will not be able to retrieve their download, or get a corrupt download. No, this isn't a scam. It's for real. Tradebit have a few more internal "bugs" to work out within their system, but it's still a great marketplace to sell from.

Anyway you dice it up, or decide to go, you'll have a better chance at securing your digital products from jump street. And that's our goal!
